In September, 1958, the Class of 1963 entered Ironton High School as "Peanuts". The candle
which was to guide us through the halls of Ironton High School and all the wonders that awaited
us, had just begun to burn.
Our candle burned and, at last, we were a real part of Ironton High School, electing class officers
and cheerleaders. As freshmen, we sat in the Peanut Gallery.
Our sophomore year brought us many happy memories of our first dances and candy sales in
preparation for our Junior Prom.
Finally, we were juniors, and the flame of our candle was burning brightly. We now had only one
more year to share together. Our class members participated in athletics, band, G.A.A., and presented
our class play, "Hi-Times". The Class Steering Committee selected our class rings. With the
help of all members, the class, in our estimation, presented the most beautiful Prom ever to be held at
Ironton High School.

Our Senior year came at last. Our candle was burning low, but was still glowing very brightly. Much time was spent in preparation of the Owl, which would hold our memorable treasures. The year rapidly came to a close, and our candle began to flicker through our last Prom, Class Night, Baccalaurete; and finally the candle faded completely from sight when our diplomas were presented. The light of the candle of the Class of 1963 shall no more brighten the halls of Ironton High School, but it shall glow as a light for those to come. A new candle will guide us through the coming years, but we will never forget what we have left behind.
We gratefully express our appreciation to Mrs. Josephine Bailey, Advisor and the faculty
who have guided us wisely and faithfully through these years.
